The Ministry had at various periods established the following Institutions/Centres to facilitate the empowerment of women.
1. Alubo Processing Centre, Shabu (Lafia North Development Area)
The Centre was established in 1998 at Shabu, along Akwanga Road in Lafia North Development Area of the State, to provide clean; hygienic and safe environment for Alubo processing among other things. Since establishment, the Centre has been under-utilized, due largely to its poor state and lack of the following infrastructure:
Water pumping machine
Inadequate drying slabs
Defective fermentation pits
Cassava Processing Machine
In 2007 however, with assistance from the British High Commission, a warehouse was built to enhance the status of the complex as a comprehensive cassava processing Centre and improve its status as a potentially viable commercial outfit for women.
2. Garri / Alubo Processing Centre, Gwagi (Wamba LGA):
The Centre was established in 2001 at Gwagi in Wamba Local Government Area of the State to enhance Alubo / Garri processing by women in Gwagi, one of the areas reputed for production of the staple food in the State. The Centre was also expected to enhance the economic status of women in the area through large scale production, when facilities and infrastructural development are completed. Funds for completion of the project were however not released leading to its eventual abandonment.
